Montigo ("we", "our", or "us") provides school management software through two mobile applications: Montigo Crew (for staff and drivers) and Montigo Parent (for parents).

This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. Each app collects different data based on the role of the person using it — please read the section that applies to you.

By using Montigo, you agree to the practices described in this policy. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers or any third party for marketing purposes.

Montigo Parent

For parents tracking their child's day at school

What we collect

What we don't collect

We do not track your personal location at any time. We do not access your contacts, photos, or any data on your phone outside of what you explicitly upload (e.g., a child profile photo).

Who sees your data

  • Your child's school — staff who teach or are responsible for your child can see profile details, attendance, and messages you send
  • Van staff (when transport is enabled) — see your child's name and photo for pickup verification only

We never share your data with advertisers or unrelated third parties.

For school directors, teachers, admins, drivers, and attendants

Location tracking — drivers only

The app tracks driver location only during active trips. When a trip ends, location tracking stops. We do not track location outside of work hours, when the app is closed, or for staff in non-driving roles.

Location data is used to:

  • Show parents the live position of their child's bus
  • Calculate estimated arrival times for each stop
  • Maintain trip records for the school administration

Class scoping

Teachers see only the students assigned to their class. Admin and owner roles see school-wide data. Drivers and attendants see only the routes they are scheduled on.

Who sees your data

  • Parents — see van location during their child's active trip and any messages you send them
  • Other school staff — see role-appropriate data; private 1:1 messages stay private
  • School owner — has the broadest visibility for oversight
